While watching this video please observe the following:
- Depth of lunge
- Length of stride
- Why are his arms frozen? (USE THEM)
- And most importantly is this explosive? I would have my grandma perform these as he is!

I think you're being a little too critical. It doesn't have to be any harder than that to be effective and I doubt he's trying to target the same audience as you. Yes, it could be more difficult, but ever exercise can be made more difficult depending on who is executing it. I highly doubt you'd have your grandmother do anything more difficult than this given bone density and ligament flexibility. How old are you anyway?
